Norsan Media is a division of Norsan, a company that was founded in 1987 in Atlanta, GA. by Mexican entrepreneur, Norberto Sanchez.
Norsan began with the Frontera Mex-Mex Grill restaurant concept in March 1987. Norsan then ventured into the processed meat industry and wholesale imports with the addition of Prime Meats to vertically align its practices. Norsan’s successful restaurant expansion began with Pampas Steakhouse in March 2001 followed by Luciano’s Italian Ristorante in 2007. Presently, Norsan operates a vast restaurant division comprised of 14 fast-casual Mexican Restaurants, 2 casual Italian concepts and 1 fine dining and award-winning Argentine steakhouse. The company also operates a central meat packaging plant and an additional out-of-state distribution center for improved logistics.
In 2007, seeing a parallel opportunity in radio broadcasting and the explosive growth of the Hispanic population in the Southeast, Norsan Group entered the Hispanic media industry with the addition of Norsan Media. Norsan Media currently owns and operates 25 local Spanish language radio stations in Charlotte, NC, Greensboro, NC, Wilmington, NC, Columbia, SC, Charleston, SC and Jacksonville, FL. Norsan Media is also an affiliate of Estrella TV, and in 2015 opened Charlotte’s first and only local Spanish language television station available in Charlotte and the Triad area on Spectrum on channel 811 and 1233 HD. For viewers with no access to cable, Estrella TV is also available over the air on channel 16 offering news, weather, community programming, and emergency alerts to accompany Estrella’s national network feed. Hola News is Norsan Media’s award-winning weekly Spanish newspaper that is published in Charlotte, NC, Greensboro, NC, and Jacksonville, FL. In addition to media properties, Norsan Media also organizes large-scale events and festivals targeting the Hispanic community in the markets they serve including Vida y Salud Expo, Cinco de Mayo Festival, La Raza Fan Fest, Latina Summer Night, Veraneando con La Raza, El Grito Festival, and Hola Charlotte Hispanic Heritage Festival. Norsan Media strives to be a model of excellence for the Latino community as one of the Top 70 companies within the Hispanic Business 500.
With projected growth within the Hispanic markets in the Southeast region of the US, we anticipate the possibility to continue to develop additional concepts within each of our divisions: an expansion of restaurants, increased food processing, and distribution, and additional media channels.
